Study Groups

Study Groups: An integral part of the Upledger training and experience

Since 2004, the CSS has been responsible for Study Groups, which are run by Qualified Members. Study Groups exist to support all levels of Upledger students, and are especially helpful to those newer to the work between their classes. They are held in various locations across the UK at different times to suit the Study Group leader and their Study Group best. Some Study Group Leaders offer online meetings.

You can find a list of them further down this page as well as on the UIUK website with a calendar of their next dates. Some students are members of more than one group, and many who find travelling difficult are able to take advantage of online meetings.

How much do study groups cost?

The fee for attending a group is generally between £20 and £45 depending on the length of the meeting, how often they run and where they are held. We really encourage students to go along – it would be very rare not to learn anything and is a great way to meet other practitioners at all levels and review different pieces of the work. Typically the topic or theme is set in response to student requests. Although the groups are open to multi-levels of experience, the work is adjusted to suit the participant so if the topic is something from a later class, the group leader will find an appropriate way for a student who has not yet taken that class to be involved in practical sessions.

An opportunity to deepen your understanding

Upledger Institutes worldwide, and their Study Group Leaders will not chase you to encourage your participation. You are expected to be self-responsible and to take the initiative to contact Study Group Leaders and get on their mailing list so you can keep in touch about dates and meeting times. Occasionally Study Group Leaders will invite Upledger teachers or experienced practitioners to present a session around a particular topic. These have included theory and practical exercises to enable a greater understanding of particular techniques, preparation for written and practical examinations, or aspects of the role of the therapist. There have also been longer workshops, CST1 & 2 reviews, SER1 and 2 reviews, and various Anatomy days.

Please note that it is very important that only Upledger CranioSacral Therapy is covered at these groups. It is neither the place of the Study Group Leader, nor of other students to promote or spend time discussing other modalities, products, or approaches they may use, or indeed any other classes or sessions they may offer separately. When this has occurred on the odd occasion in the past it has left students feeling quite confused. Please contact CSS if this should occur.

Record your attendance as CPD

Your Study Group Leader should have a form that they can give you to sign whenever you attend a group. You will also find a CPD Record form in the CSS Members Area, or you can download it below
