About CranioSacral Therapy
CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle hands on therapy with roots in both osteopathy and cranial osteopathy, but with a little more focus on the fascia lining the bones of the head and vertebral column, called the meninges, most specifically the outer layer known as the dura. We may work anywhere on the body however, as many areas affect and are affected by the fascia between the cranium and the sacrum. Dr John Upledger, who developed this therapy on from its cranial osteopathic roots, also went further into working with emotional components that are held in the tissues and found that working with people in a very client centred way, incorporating aspects particularly of Jungian, Gestalt and Psychosysthesis therapies, while in contact with the body, proved incredibly effective. This is called SER or somatoemotional release and is simply a part of the CST approach in this school of training.
There is lots more information on the Upledger UK websites Therapy pages where we attempt to explain as clearly as we can. If you want to find out more please do email us or contact one of our members near you listed on our Find a member page.
